Indiana University launches fund’s first project
Indiana University announced the Student Sustainability Council’s first University Lighting upgrades project funded by its Sustainability Fund, which was created from student donations. Motion-sensing, energy efficient lighting in one of the campus’ stairwells will be installed, the university said. Ballantine Hall will receive the lighting upgrades in an effort to promote campus-wide energy efficiency through the student fund.
Warehouse installs LEDs to reduce energy consumption
Mack Technologies in Massachusetts completed a light-emitting diode (LED) retrofit project to reduce energy consumption. The project is the largest LED lighting installation of its kind in a New England manufacturing facility. A total of 2,600 LED fixtures were installed in the manufacturer’s facility and several hundred high-performance bulbs were placed in the company’s offices
Kansas, Michigan cities install LED streetlights
The city of St. Clair, Michigan will continue to brighten its streets with additional LED streetlights, according to C and G News. Many mercury vapor streetlights in the city’s northern neighborhoods were replaced with LEDs in 2012 after the city received funding from an Energy Optimization Rebate and partnership with DTE Energy.
